Techniques for Abdominoplasty

The scar is from hip to hip along the crease between the lower abdomen and pubic area, as well as a scar around the belly button. Patients can go home on the same day as the surgery with drains (tubes that collect the swelling under the skin).

  1. Mini-abdominoplasty: This procedure generally combines liposuction of the abdomen with a horizontal suprapubic incision from the inner edge of the hip bone across to the other inner edge of the hip bone. This type of tummy tuck does not reposition the navel; therefore, there will be no scar around the belly button. This procedure is suitable for patients with a small amount of excess skin and fat in the lowest part of the abdomen.
  2. Abdominoplasty with lipo 360: A tummy tuck with lipo 360 generally includes both tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) and circumferential liposuction. Abdominoplasty will remove all the skin under the navel and reposition the navel. The scars have a horizontal component above the pubic area, rising laterally towards the hips and a periumbilical scar. Liposuction 360 includes liposuction of the abdomen, hips, flanks, and back.
  3. Fleur-de-lys or inverted T abdominoplasty: Similar to a traditional tummy tuck, this abdominoplasty uses a central vertical incision from the sternum to the pubic region to remove and tighten excess horizontal skin. This procedure is for patients with excess side-to-side skin after significant weight loss or bariatric surgery.

At Phi Plastic Surgery, we believe that a beautiful body can take many shapes and sizes. The Phi philosophy centers on respecting your body's proportions and helping you let your inner beauty shine.

  • You will not see the final result before 1 month. Scarring continues to improve for 6 months to a year.

Your results

Recovery from a tummy tuck generally consists of taking pain medications for 48 hours. It takes four weeks for the skin to heal and 4-6 weeks for the initial swelling to resolve.

A tummy tuck will help you obtain a flatter and firmer abdomen and will accomplish the following:

  1. Removal of excess lower abdominal skin and stretch marks
  2. Tightening of the abdominal wall
  3. A flatter abdomen and narrower waist
  4. Increase self-confidence that comes with an enhanced abdominal shape

The result is a more beautiful silhouette (hourglass), and a more sculpted abdomen.

View most frequently asked questions

What is a tummy tuck?

A tummy tuck is a surgery that removes excess skin and fat from the lower abdomen. This is combined with liposuction of the upper abdomen, flanks, and pubis to give a nicer result. The procedure also includes the correction of rectus diastasis, which is the separation of the abdominal muscles after pregnancy or weight loss.

Am I a good candidate for a tummy tuck?

The best candidates for this surgery are at a stable and healthy weight. You have to be sure to have finished having kids and be able to take the time to recover.

What are the techniques used in a tummy tuck?

A tummy tuck includes the excision of excess tissue under the belly button, plication of the abdominal muscles, transposition of the umbilicus and liposuction of the flanks, upper abdomen as well as pubic area. The incision stays low and goes from hip to hip with a small incision around the umbilicus.

How do I know if I have rectus diastasis?

You can examine the space between your abdominal muscles by lying down and raising your head. You can then feel the space between your abdominal muscles. Often after pregnancy, this space measures 1-5cm.

What happens to my cesarian section scar in an abdominoplasty?

The scar from the tummy tuck will likely be below the cesarian section scar so that it will be removed during surgery.

What should I expect after a tummy tuck operation?

You will be in a flexed position (at the hips) for 5-7 days while the skin stretches. The pain can be well controlled during the first days by taking your pain medication regularly. You will have a drain to empty during the first days. The average recovery takes three weeks (2-4 weeks).

What are the risks of a tummy tuck?

The procedure's risks are rare but important and include the risks of general anesthesia, thrombophlebitis (blot clot in the leg), bleeding and infection. All possible complications and how to prevent them will be discussed during your consultation.

How much does the procedure cost?

Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty removes excess skin from the inner lips (labia minora). In some cases, this procedure can involve a reduction of the clitoral hood as well. Most often labia minora hypertrophy is congenital in nature (you were born this way) and is a variation of normal anatomy. Asymmetry of the labia minora is also very common. Labia minor hypertrophy can lead to discomfort during intercourse and can be bothersome in daily life, such during physical activities like biking and running. Labiaplasty aims to restore the labia minora to a proportional size for both functional and aesthetic reasons.

Patients who are good candidates for this procedure

  • Are at a stable and healthy weight
  • Have no significant medical problems
  • Non-smokers
  • Not on blood thinners
  • Have hypertrophic or asymmetrical labia minora

Patients who are poor candidates for this procedure

  • Have serious medical problems
  • On blood thinners

Are you a good candidate?

Our Self-Evaluation Quiz can help you decide if a labiaplasty is the right procedure for you.

Techniques for Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty is a straightforward procedure that can be done under local anesthetic in the office. Dr. Perry’s preferred technique is called a Modified Wedge Excision, which preserves the nerve sensation in this intimate area and allows for the most natural results. Patients are given a cream to numb the area, and a local anesthetic is injected to freeze the region. The procedure lasts approximately 45 minutes.

Dr. Gdalevitch uses a modified wedge technique to perform labiaplasty.

During surgery, Dr. Gdalevitch removes a V-shaped “wedge” from either side of the labia. This is then extended into the crease between the labia minor and labia majora to address any excess skin in those areas. She then stitches the remaining edges together to create a natural contour. This technique creates a small horizontal scar and a scar that is hidden in the crease between the labia minora and majora. This technique is also preferred as it allows for a more significant reduction of the hypertrophic labia and gives the most natural results.

Trim technique

Occasionally, a trim technique is a better option for certain patients. Usually, these patients have very mild hypertrophy and thin labia minora. Dr. Gdalevitch will explain to you which technique is better for you during your consultation.

Arm Lift

Aging, weight loss and heredity can all contribute to developing loose, sagging skin on the upper arms. Redundant skin and excess fat in this area are often unresponsive to exercise, and in some cases, weight loss can even worsen it.

At Phi Plastic Surgery, we believe everyone deserves to enjoy life confidently. Brachioplasty surgery, also known as an arm lift, removes excess skin and fat from the upper arms and restores the upper arm’s contour to create a tighter and more youthful-looking appearance.

Patients who are good candidates for this procedure

  • Are at a stable and healthy weight
  • Have no significant medical problems
  • Non-smokers
  • Not on blood thinners
  • Adults with significant upper arm skin laxity

Patients who are poor candidates for this procedure

  • Obese (want or need to lose weight)
  • Smoker
  • Have serious medical problems
  • On blood thinners

Our Self-Evaluation Quiz can help you decide if an arm lift is the right procedure for you.

Techniques for Arm Lift

During the arm lift surgery, typically performed under general anesthetic, the excess skin and fat are removed from your arms. The surgical technique often involves liposuction to help break up the fat while preserving the nerves and lymphatic channels of the arm. Patients can go home on the same day of the surgery.

  1. Mini Brachioplasty – During a Mini Brachioplasty, Dr. Gdalevitch makes a single crescent-shaped incision under the armpit. This surgery is best suited for people with little excess skin and fat in the upper arms. Liposuction can also be performed at the same time.
  2. Full Brachioplasty –Dr. Gdalevitch will perform liposuction of the upper arm and then make an incision from the armpit to just above the elbow. This surgery best suits candidates with a moderate amount of excess skin and fat.
  3. Extended Brachioplasty – During an extended Brachioplasty, Dr. Gdalevitch will also typically use liposuction to slim the area and then make an incision from the elbow to the armpit and into the side of the chest (lateral breast fold). She will then remove excess skin and fat, and tighten the underlying tissues. This technique is often used in patients with massive weight loss.

At Phi Plastic Surgery, we believe that a beautiful body can take many shapes and sizes. The Phi philosophy centers on respecting your body's proportions and helping you let your inner beauty shine.

Your results

Patients typically take at least two weeks off work to recover after their operation. If your job is sedentary, you can return after one week. A thin compression garment is routinely worn for six weeks to reduce swelling and promote healing.

An arm lift will help you obtain a slimmer, more defined arm contour and will accomplish the following:

  1. Removal of excess skin and fat in the upper arm
  2. Tightening of the upper arm contour
  3. Increase self-confidence that comes with an enhanced arm shape

The result is a beautiful, more sculpted upper arm.

If you want to eliminate loose, sagging skin around the arms to achieve your ideal figure, then an arm lift at Phi Plastic Surgery can help.

View most frequently asked questions

Why are my arms flabby?

Your arms can be flabby because of a variety of reasons. Upper arm saggy skin may appear after massive weight loss. Flabby arms can also be a result of your genetics or weight fluctuations.

Is an arm lift a major surgery?

Yes, an arm lift is a major surgery. Upper arm brachioplasty carries certain risks and possible complications. Speak with your plastic surgeon about any concerns you may have about the procedure and the recovery process.

How painful is an arm lift?

It is normal for there to be some level of discomfort after any type of surgical procedure, including an arm lift. You can expect to experience some bruising, swelling and soreness following your arm lift, but this will gradually subside over the next few days. After 1 to 2 weeks, most of the discomfort will have dissipated.

  • Have issues with the new appearance of your upper arms
  • Understand what a Brachioplasty can and cannot achieve
  • Have been able to maintain a stable weight for at least six months to a year before the surgery,
  • Are in good health and have no chronic medical conditions and do not smoke

How can I maintain the results of my arm lift?

Thigh Lift

In certain circumstances, liposuction alone is insufficient to address the excess fat and skin accumulated around the thigh region. A thigh lift procedure removes excess skin and fat and lifts the upper thigh area to restore a slimmer more defined thigh contour.

Whether you’re looking to get rid of excess skin due to significant weight loss or simply desire a more shapely toned appearance, a thigh lift can make a huge difference in how you look and feel.

Patients who are good candidates for this procedure

  • Are at a stable and healthy weight
  • Have no significant medical problems
  • Non-smokers
  • Not on blood thinners
  • Have “pinchable” skin/fat in the thigh region

Patients who are poor candidates for this procedure

  • Obese (want or need to lose weight)
  • Smoker
  • Have serious medical problems
  • On blood thinners

Are you a good candidate?

Our Self-Evaluation Quiz can help you decide if a thigh lift is the right procedure for you.

Techniques for Thigh Lift

There are several different kinds of thigh lifts. Depending on the amount of skin to remove, Dr. Perry Gdalevitch will make an incision to access the underlying tissues of the thigh.

These incisions may run:

  1. vertically along the inner thigh;
  2. horizontally on the upper thigh/ groin;
  3. in a T-shape that involves both types of incisions.

Dr. Gdalevitch will then tighten the underlying tissue, remove excess skin, and reshape as well as tighten the remaining skin. A thigh lift often combines liposuction to improve thigh contour and remove excess fat.

Your results

You can expect to need rest for at least one week. In some cases, patients may need to take up to three weeks off from work. Patients will also need to avoid any heavy lifting, vigorous exercises, and strenuous activity for the first 3-4 weeks after surgery.

A thigh lift will help you obtain a more defined upper leg appearance and will accomplish the following:

  1. Removal of excessive skin and stretch marks
  2. Tightening of the thigh skin after significant weight loss
  3. Create a slimmer, contoured upper leg appearance
  4. Increase self-confidence that comes with more contoured thighs

The end result is a tighter, more sculpted thigh.

View most frequently asked questions

What is a thigh lift?

Thigh lift surgery is a procedure that reshapes the thighs by reducing excess skin and, in some cases, fat, resulting in smoother skin along with better-proportioned contours of the thighs and lower body.

How much excess skin can a thigh lift remove?

The amount of excess skin removed varies from person to person. The goal is to achieve a contoured and toned-looking thigh. The trade-off for skin removal is the thigh lift scar which can be semi-hidden inside the thighs and will fade over time.

Do I need a thigh lift or liposuction?

Thigh lift surgery is recommended for people with sagging skin. Liposuction is often a part of the thigh lift procedure. Liposuction is recommended for people who are looking to lose stubborn fat in the targeted area but do not have a lot of sagging skin. Liposuction can also make saggy skin worse for post-weight loss patients.

Will I need anesthesia?

Yes, thigh lift surgery requires anesthesia. The procedure can be done under general anesthesia or with a combination of local (or regional) anesthesia and sedation for patients who require shorter procedures.

Can a thigh lift help sagging skin around the knees?

A thigh lift is best at addressing loose skin in the upper thigh area, most often in the inner thigh area. Because of the distance from the upper thigh to the knee, the benefits of sagging skin around the knee are more minimal. If sagging skin around your knees is a concern, Dr. Perry can make other suggestions to get you the results you’re looking for.

Brazilian Butt Lift

Brazilian buttock lift at Phi Plastic Surgery is a procedure to augment the buttock region and to enhance an hourglass body figure. It can be performed under general anesthetic as outpatient surgery or under local anesthesia with sedation. Fat is first harvested through liposuction of other body regions, most commonly the abdomen, flanks and thighs. The aspirated fat is carefully prepared and then injected into the buttocks to create a full and round contour. The procedure uses the patient’s own fatty tissue exclusively and eliminates the need for implants.

Patients must wear a compression garment post-operatively for six weeks to reduce swelling and expedite healing. They may generally return to work within 1-2 weeks. Sitting and lying on one’s back should be minimized over the first six weeks following the Brazilian buttock lift. Exercise and strenuous activity are avoided for 3 months to allow the new fat to settle.

Patients who are good candidates for this procedure

  • Are at a stable and healthy weight
  • Have no significant medical problems
  • Non-smokers
  • Not on blood thinners
  • Have a healthy amount of fat that can be removed from other areas of the body

Patients who are poor candidates for this procedure

Technique for Brazilian Butt Lift

A Brazilian butt lift surgery uses fat grafting to achieve its natural-appearing results. The procedure can be performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation, and patients go home the same day.

During surgery, Dr. Perry Gdalevitch will use liposuction to remove fat from other areas of your body, such as your flancs, stomach, and thighs. Liposuction involves making tiny incisions in the skin and then using a vacuum suction tube and a cannula to remove fat from the body.

The fat cells that have been removed from your body are purified and prepared for injection into your buttocks. Dr. Gdalevitch finishes by injecting the purified fat into specific areas of the hips and buttocks to create a more rounded, full look.

View most frequently asked questions

What is a BBL?

A BBL, Brazilian butt lift, is an immensely popular procedure known as butt augmentation to enhance the firmness and fullness of your buttocks.

Can I sit after BBL surgery?

Giving your fat cells the best opportunity to establish blood supply is essential. BBL patients generally avoid direct sitting from 2 to 4 weeks; some take longer. With the help of pillows or supportive cut-outs, patients are recommended to sit with their weight on their thighs to avoid any direct pressure on their buttocks.

How many litres of fat can be removed in BBL surgery?

4 to 5 litres of fat can be removed safely by liposuction during surgery, while more than 5 litres is not considered safe in one surgery. The amount of fat removed will depend on the patient and their body goals.

How long is the recovery for Brazilian butt lift surgery?

The recovery process is usually a few weeks. For the first week, bruising and swelling are common in both the buttocks and the area where the fat was removed. Patients should avoid sitting on their bottoms for about three weeks after the procedure. However, the recovery timeline depends on the individual patient, how much fat he or she has grafted, and other factors that Dr. Perry will discuss.

If I lose weight after the surgery, will my buttock size decrease?

Changes in your weight should not significantly change the size of your buttock unless the decrease in weight is dramatic, just like regular fat.

Mommy Makeover

As a mom, you’ve made sacrifices. Your body may be one of them. Things like loose skin, scars, and fat deposits are the physical signs you may still carry after the hard work of creating your family. If you’re struggling to feel confident in your postpartum body, you are not alone. Many moms struggle to reclaim their figure once they are finished having kids.

The reality is that diet and exercise can only do so much to help with persistent pregnancy weight and loose skin. A customized mommy makeover procedure is the best option to restore the areas like the breasts or the stomach after pregnancy and breastfeeding. Your mommy makeover will be catered to your body as well as to your goals. With the help of a consultation, Dr. Gdalevitch can create the best surgical plan suited to your specific needs.

Our Self-Evaluation Quiz can help you decide if a Mommy Makeover is the right procedure for you.

Techniques for Mommy Makeover

A Mommy Makeover surgery typically lasts 4 hours and involves several different surgeries. General anesthesia is used, and patients return home the same day.

The Breasts

Following pregnancy and breastfeeding, the breasts often change in shape and size. This can result in droopy and/or deflated breasts. A breast lift and/or augmentation will return the breast to a more youthful shape and position. As every woman is different, Dr. Gdalevitch will help you choose the surgery that is right for you.

The Abdomen (tummy tuck)

A tummy tuck can also be performed in combination with breast surgery. The goal of a tummy tuck is to remove excess fat and skin from the abdomen as well as correct the space created between the abdominal muscles during pregnancy (rectus diastasis). The tummy tuck procedure includes liposuction to the unwanted fat of the love handles, upper abdomen, and pubic area to achieve an aesthetic abdominal silhouette. Liposuction 360 is often also used to maximize the contour of the entire trunk area and restore your pre-mom silhouette.

Liposuction

Liposuction is a fast and effective fat removal procedure that removes excess fat deposits on the thighs, back and flanks. Liposuction is almost always used to help contour the trunk area in a mommy makeover.

Liposuction

Have you been working out or dieting and still have those stubborn areas of fat that bother you? You are not alone. For many people, stubborn fat deposits can lead to lower self-esteem and prevent them from wearing the clothes they love.

Liposuction is a popular cosmetic procedure designed to permanently and effectively remove fat. Awake liposuction represents the latest advancement in suction-assisted fat removal and is a signature technique by Dr. Gdalevitch at the Phi Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Perry Gdalevitch removes excess fat under local anesthesia. You will be fully alert as your body is sculpted, yet there will be no pain during your procedure. Since general anesthesia is unnecessary, you can expect to recuperate from the surgery more quickly.

Liposuction is often combined with other procedures such as abdominoplasty, breast reduction and other body contouring procedures. In this case, general anesthesia may be needed.

Technique for Awake Liposuction

Awake liposuction is a fat-removal techniques that is safe, effective, and minimally invasive. This surgery uses an anesthetic “tumescent” solution that is injected into the fat through small incisions. The liquid contains a vasoconstrictor, which is a medication that causes blood vessels to constrict as well as anesthetic liquid to freeze the fat.

After injecting the tumescent solution, Dr. Gdalevitch will insert a thin tube called a cannula to break apart fat cells, allowing her to remove them from underneath the skin. During this step, the patient may feel the vibration of the cannula and a bit of pressure. The procedure is nevertheless very comfortable and allows for optimal results as patients can be placed in multiple positions to allow for maximal fat removal and sculpting.

At Phi Plastic Surgery, we believe that a beautiful body can take many shapes and sizes. The Phi philosophy centers on respecting your body's proportions and helping you let your inner beauty shine.

We offer our patients the best, most advanced techniques to help them achieve their aesthetic goals.

J-Plasma Skin Tightening

For better results and skin tightening after liposuction, Dr. Gdalevitch uses Renuvion Jplasma. This technology helps the skin contract to maximize the definition of the area treated. J plasma is typically used in areas of thin loose skin such as arms, inner thighs and lower abdomen. Awake liposuction combined with J plasma allows us better sculpt your silhouette.

Your results

The results are seen immediately! Upon standing up, you will already see the difference in the areas we treated. The result improves over time (1 month) as the swelling dissipates and skin tightening occurs. The results from liposuction continue to improve up to 1 year.

With this procedure, we are not only focused on thinning your treated areas but also on sculpting your shape.

Recovery from liposuction consists of two days of pain requiring medications, one week for the skin to heal and 4-6 weeks for the initial swelling to resolve. A compression garment is worn for 4-6 weeks to help contour the area.

View most frequently asked questions

Should I lose weight before or after liposuction?

Liposuction never replaces a healthy diet. It aims to sculpt your body in order for you to get more aesthetic proportions. Liposuction is done in patients with excess fat that is out of proportion to the rest of their body. Often these areas are resistant to diet and exercise.

How long do the results of liposuction last?

The results are for life, as long as the weight remains stable. The fat that is extracted can never grow back.

How much fat can I expect to lose?

This depends on each person. Typical liposuction varies between 1 L and 4 L of fat.

Is liposuction painful?

The pain is present for about 2 -7 days. Taking regular pain medication and wearing compression garments helps to decrease the discomfort.

What are the risks of liposuction?

Like any surgical procedure, there is the risk of anesthesia as well as the risk of infection and bleeding. All possible complications and how to avoid them will be discussed during your consultation.

Facelift

A facelift procedure is a delicate surgery used to lift the skin of the face and neck and tighten underlying tissues in order to reverse the effects of aging.

As we age, our skin naturally loses its elasticity. As a result, we begin to see deflation and the descent of facial structures such as the cheek. The appearance of fine lines, deeper folds, and sagging fat pads become more prominent, giving us a tired appearance.

Dr. Perry Gdalevitch is known for producing attractive, beautiful, and natural-looking facelift results that make you look more youthful, rejuvenated, and rested. With her experience and expertise, you will look 10 to 15 years younger!

Patients who are good candidates for this procedure

  • Are at a stable and healthy weight
  • Have no significant medical problems
  • Non-smokers
  • Not on blood thinners
  • Have loose and sagging facial skin/fat pads such as jowls or nasolabial folds
  • Desire a more defined jawline

Patients who are poor candidates for this procedure

  • Obese (want or need to lose weight)
  • Smoker
  • Have serious medical problems
  • On blood thinners

Techniques for Facelift

The scar of a facelift usually runs within the anterior hairline, just behind the cartilage at the front of the ear, and then around the ear lobe, behind the ear and into the posterior hairline. A small incision under the chin is often used as well to help address the neck laxity. When healed, it is difficult to detect the scars of a facelift.

During Surgery, Dr. Gdalevitch will make the incision to access the underlying tissues of the face. This includes the top layers of skin, as well as the deeper layers of musculature referred to as the superficial muscular aponeurotic system (SMAS). She will then lift and suture the tissues into a very natural position, removing any excess skin that no longer sits firmly on the restored tissues.

Eyelid surgery can also be combined with a facelift to complete your facial rejuvenation.

View most frequently asked questions

What are the different facelift techniques?

A facelift can include 1 to 3 thirds of the face: the forehead, the midface, and the neck. Generally, a typical facelift consists of the midface and neck, while a mini facelift includes only the midface.

The most practiced technique today is a subcutaneous technique with SMAS plication. This is the technique used by Dr. Gdalevitch.

How is a facelift procedure done?

The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia with sedation. The skin of the cheek and neck is lifted off, and the deeper layer (SMAS layer) is then lifted to perform the facelift. The procedure lasts about 4 hours.

What should I expect after a facelift?

You will have a compression garment to wear and will have to sleep in a semi-sitting position to avoid swelling. The pain is well controlled with medication. You should expect to recover at home for one week. In the second week, you can go out but will continue to wear the garment as much as possible. The stitches will be removed after one week during your postoperative visit.

What scars will I have after a facelift?

The mini facelift scar begins at the top and in front of the ear and ends behind the earlobe. For the traditional facelift (midface/neck), the scar extends behind the ear and along the posterior hairline.

How many years do the results of a facelift last?

The results last a long time. Aging will continue but will be less pronounced.

Blepharoplasty

Your eyes are usually the first thing people notice about you; unfortunately, they are one of the first areas of the face to show aging.

The delicate skin of the upper eye can begin to sag and droop. In some cases, this sagging skin may even impair your sight and prevent you from having a full field of vision.

The lower lid can also begin to show age with heavy under-eye bags that give you a run-down appearance. Despite adequate rest and good health, these puffy bags coupled with sagging lids may cause your face to appear worn or fatigued.

Eyelid Surgery, medically known as Blepharoplasty, can correct drooping eyelids (upper lids) or under eye bags by removing excess fat and skin to give you a rested and refreshed appearance. By eliminating areas of excessive bulging and by tightening the skin around the eyes, eyelid surgery can give you a “brighter” appearance without changing the way you look.

Blepharoplasty is a delicate procedure and should be performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon like Dr. Perry Gdalevitch. By tailoring your procedure to your exact needs, you can feel confident that you’ll achieve a refreshed appearance and the beautiful, natural-looking results you’ve always wanted. Book a consultation today to learn more about eyelid surgery and what it can do for you.

  • Do not take blood thinners
  • Do not smoke
  • Do not have dryness or other medical conditions of the eyeball
  • Feel like they always look tired

Patients who are poor candidates for this procedure

  • Obese (want or need to lose weight)
  • Smoker
  • Have serious medical problems
  • On blood thinners

Are you a good candidate?

Our Self-Evaluation Quiz can help you decide if a blepharoplasty is the right procedure for you.

Techniques for Blepharoplasty

Both upper and lower eyelid surgery can be performed under local anesthetic (freezing only), and patients can go home the same day. The scars are placed in the upper lid fold and along the lower lid of the eyelids. These surgeries can be performed alone or in a combination with other procedures to achieve the results you are looking for.

Upper Blepharoplasty

During your upper eyelid blepharoplasty, Dr. Perry makes an incision along the upper eyelid crease. Through this incision, she will reshape the upper eyelid’s contours by removing any excess skin and removing fatty tissue from the area. When the incision is closed, the scar falls in the upper eyelid crease.

Lower Blepharoplasty

While performing a lower blepharoplasty, Dr. Gdalevitch makes a small incision hidden in the skin below the lashline. Fat that has protruded into the area below the eye will be removed or repositioned to give you a more youthful contour. Dr. Gdalevitch will remove extra skin and then firmly drape the remaining skin to create a smoother undereye appearance.

Techniques for Lateral Brow Lift

A lateral brow lift can be performed using several different techniques. During your consultation, Dr. Gdalevitch will determine which method is more appropriate for you. The incision for brow lift surgery is typically in the anterior hairline close to the temples.

Through this incision, Dr. Gdalevitch accesses the underlying tissue and muscle beneath the skin. She then repositions these structures to correct the descent of the lateral brow and suspend the brow higher to a more youthful position.

Mini Facelift

A mini facelift procedure is a shorter and less invasive facelift procedure. The focus of this surgery is to rejuvenate the midface and slow down early signs of aging, especially around the mid/lower face. As we age, the quality of our skin naturally loses its integrity. One of the first signs of aging is a loss of tone with laxity of the skin. This allows for descent and a change in the shape of the mid and lower face.

Dr. Perry Gdalevitch is known for producing attractive, beautiful, and natural-looking results. With a mini facelift, she can tighten saggy, drooping skin and restore a smooth jaw line. This procedure achieves a youthful and rested look. With her experience and expertise, your results will look natural.

Patients who are good candidates for this procedure

  • Are at a stable and healthy weight
  • Have no significant medical problems
  • Non-smokers
  • Not on blood thinners
  • Have mild to moderate loose and sagging facial skin/ jowls
  • Desire a more defined jawline

Patients who are poor candidates for this procedure

  • Obese (want or need to lose weight)
  • Smoker
  • Have serious medical problems
  • On blood thinners

Techniques for Mini Facelift

The goal of a mini facelift is to remove excess skin from the middle and lower third of the face as well as lift and tighten the deeper facial tissues. A vertical incision will be made a few millimetres in front of your ear and may extend slightly behind your ear.

Dr. Gdalevitch will then pull the deep tissue layer under your skin upward, creating the “lift” of the lower face and smoothing out of the jawline. Once these tissues are fixed in their higher position, she will carefully remove any excess skin. Finally, she will close your incisions using very fine sutures to minimize the scars.

A mini facelift can be combined with other facial surgeries, such as blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery).

View most frequently asked questions

Can a mini facelift be combined with other facial surgeries?

Yes, blepharoplasty is often combined with mini facelift surgery. However, you should contact Dr. Gdalevitch to book a consultation and find the best solution for you.

How bad is the scarring?

It is less extensive than the scarring from a traditional Facelift. Scars are typically hidden in skin folds near and around the ear.

When will I see my mini facelift results?

Recovery can take 7 to 10 days, and you need to stay home and rest during this time. Your sutures will be removed one week after surgery. The results of your mini facelift can usually be seen immediately after surgery. However, they will become even more satisfying as the swelling and bruising subside.

How long does a mini facelift last?

A mini facelift gives more long-standing results than less invasive procedures like dermal fillers or radiofrequency skin tightening. Although the surgery restores youthful beauty and firmness to your face, natural aging will still occur.

How is a mini facelift different than a complete facelift?

Mini or limited incision facelift is a variation of a complete facelift, with shorter incisions around ear and into the hairline. Usually, this procedure only addresses the midface to target sagging cheeks and jowls. A full facelift will typically also address laxity in the neck area, which a mini facelift does not.

Neck Lift

A neck lift is a procedure designed to improve the appearance of the neck by removing loose skin and excess fat as well as eliminating vertical folds caused by the platysma muscle in the neck. Droopy skin in the neck area is one of the earliest signs of aging for many people. These changes can appear suddenly or worsen after weight loss. A neck lift will define the jawline and remove the double chin, improving the appearance of your front and side profile.

Dr. Perry Gdalevitch is known for producing attractive, beautiful, and natural-looking neck lift results that make you look more youthful, rejuvenated, and rested. With her experience and expertise, your results will be natural!

Patients who are good candidates for this procedure

  • Are at a stable and healthy weight
  • Have no significant medical problems
  • Non-smokers
  • Not on blood thinners
  • Have loose, sagging skin around the neck
  • Desire a more contoured, shapely jawline
  • Want to reduce the look of a double chin and improve their neck angle

Patients who are poor candidates for this procedure

  • Obese (want or need to lose weight)
  • Smoker

Techniques for Neck Lift

The scars from neck lift surgery usually fall within the posterior hairline, around the ear, and under the chin. They are designed to be inconspicuous. You will be able to wear your hair just as you did before surgery. The incisions for a neck lift are in a similar location to those of a full facelift which is why these two procedures are often performed together.

During your surgery, Dr. Gdalevitch may first remove excess fat with liposuction. Through the incisions made, she will tighten and lift the muscles of the neck and create a more defined neck contour. For many patients, it is important to tighten the platysma muscle. This is the muscle that creates vertical bands in the neck. This is done by an incision underneath the chin, followed by bringing either side of the muscle together. Once the underlying structures have been tightened, the skin is re-draped, and the excess skin is excised. A drain is usually inserted to remove any excess fluid during your recovery.

Recovery is approximately one week for everyday activities and one month for exercise. The final result can be seen as early as the first week, but the healing is not complete for one year.

How old do I have to be before undergoing rhinoplasty?

The nose must be at the end of growth in late adolescence (17-18 years).

Is rhinoplasty surgery painful?

The pain lasts about 2-7 days and is well controlled with pain medication. Most people describe the pain as congestion and headache.

What are the possible risks and complications of rhinoplasty?

Like any surgery, the risks include the risks of anesthesia, bleeding, and infection. The more specific risks of this surgery will be discussed during your consultation.

Buccal Fat Pad Removal

Buccal fat pad removal allows us to create a more sculpted and chiselled look. The buccal fat pads are fatty deposits in the cheeks that extend to the temples and back of the upper jaw. Usually, we see these fat pads more prominently in younger children, and they begin to slim into adulthood. If still present later in life, the buccal fat pad can lead to disproportionately round cheeks, making patients self-conscious about their appearance.

At Phi Plastic Surgery, Dr. Perry Gdalevitch can remove fat in this area to give patients a more defined and contoured cheekbone.

Patients who are good candidates for this procedure

  • Are at a stable and healthy weight
  • Have no significant medical problems
  • Non-smokers
  • Not on blood thinners
  • Patients who wish to address chubby cheeks

Patients who are poor candidates for this procedure

  • Obese (want or need to lose weight)
  • Smoker
  • Have serious medical problems
  • On blood thinners
  • Already have a slim, contoured cheek. Removal may make them look hollow or aged.

Are you a good candidate?

Our Self Evaluation Quiz can help you decide if a buccal fat pad removal is the right procedure for you.

Technique for Buccal Fat Pad Removal

The buccal fat pad removal procedure usually takes 30 minutes. Dr. Gdalevitch will begin the surgery by making an incision in the mouth near the buccal fat area. This incision usually measures around 1-2 centimetres and leaves no marks on the outside of the cheeks. This allows access to the fat pad, which she will then carefully remove through this opening.

Male Breast Reduction (Gynecomastia)

Gynecomastia is a condition where the breast tissue in men enlarges on one or both sides of the chest. It can be transient (such as in puberty) or permanent. In cases where it does not resolve, it can be due to obesity, medications (such as steroids), hormonal imbalances, or genetics. Some basic medical tests, such as a blood test and ultrasound, will be done to evaluate the cause and ensure the breast tissue is normal. A male breast reduction will define and sculpt a flatter chest, elevating confidence and creating a more masculine appearance.

Patients who are good candidates for this procedure

  • Healthy weight
  • Not taking steroids
  • No significant medical problems
  • Non-smokers
  • Not on blood thinners

Patients who are poor candidates for this procedure

  • Obesity
  • Smoking
  • Significant medical problems
  • Taking blood thinners
  • Significant weight loss

Are you a good candidate?

Our Self-Evaluation Quiz can help you decide if gynecomastia correction is the right procedure for you.

Techniques for Male Breast Reduction

Male breast reduction involves liposuction to remove fat and sculpt the chest for a flatter, more defined appearance. Dr. Gdalevitch will also make a small incision at the bottom of the areola to surgically remove the excess breast gland. Incisions for this procedure are hidden and inconspicuous. Once healed, they generally become unnoticeable.

Depending on the patient’s preferences, this procedure can be done as an awake or asleep procedure.

How long does the surgery take?

Male breast reduction takes approximately 1 ½ – 2 hours. Plan on being at Phi Plastic Surgery for around 3 hours on the day of your surgery. Since you will be coming out of anesthesia, you will need someone to drive you home from the center and stay with you for 24 hours after the surgery.

What happens at my initial consultation?

During your consultation with Dr. Gdalevitch, she will discuss your goals and which approach would be most beneficial to you. You’ll also discuss what you can expect concerning recovery, complications, and scars.

Are there complications with male breast reduction surgery?

The most common complication is an accumulation of blood in the wound. This is not a severe complication, and many times, the blood can be drained with a needle. Occasionally, we have to open the wound to drain the blood.

Breast Reduction

Breasts are considered a source of confidence and expression of femininity. However, if a woman’s breasts are too large, they can potentially become a cause of discomfort and pain. Some of the adverse effects of having breasts that are too large include back pain, skin irritation, and even lowered self-confidence.

The goal of breast reduction, also known as reduction mammoplasty, is to decrease the size and weight of the breast as well as to lift the breast higher on the chest wall. The procedure includes lifting the breast and reducing the areola size to make it proportional to the new breast size. After breast reduction surgery, patients feel more comfortable and confident in how their breasts look and feel.

Good candidates for this procedure are patients who meet the following criteria:

  • Healthy weight
  • No significant medical problems
  • Non-smokers
  • Not on blood thinners
  • Large breasts
  • Pain in neck, shoulders and upper back
  • Would like to significantly decrease the size of their breasts (approximately 2 cup size)

Poor candidates for this procedure include patients with the following risk factors:

  • Obesity
  • Smoking
  • Significant medical problems
  • Taking blood thinners
  • Droopy but not heavy breasts
  • Do not want to significantly decrease the size of their breasts (see breast lift)

Are you a good candidate?

Our Self-Evaluation Quiz can help you decide if a breast reduction is the right procedure for you.

Techniques for Breast Reduction

Breast reduction is a surgical procedure that removes excess breast fat and breast gland as well as skin to create a smaller, more proportional breast. Breast reduction always includes a breast lift as well.

A shorter incision technique can be used for patients who experience sagging and want a minimal to moderate reduction in breast size. This involves two incisions, one made around the areola and the second made vertically from the bottom of the areola to just above the breast fold.

More commonly, and for patients requiring a more significant reduction in breast size, Dr. Gdalevitch uses a technique that involves three incisions. One between the areola and breast crease, one around the areola and one horizontally along the breast crease. This is called an anchor incision.

View most frequently asked questions

Am I a good candidate for breast reduction?

To be considered for breast reduction, our patient must be able to reduce the breast volume by a minimum of 250 grams per breast. Patients with a size DD or a larger bra may consider breast reduction. Patients must be in good general health, have a healthy weight and be a non-smoker.

In a breast reduction, does the breast get lifted as well?

Yes, the breast reduction technique includes a breast lift.

What can I expect during recovery from a breast reduction?

Breast reduction is a day surgery. Patients can expect pain for two days, relieved by pain medication. Recovery and time off work are generally 4-6 weeks. Physical exercise can be resumed in 1 month. During the first month, patients are advised to wear a sports bra day and night to support healing. The skin heals in 2 weeks, and the breast takes its stable form at two months. The scars fade over two years.

Can I breastfeed after a breast reduction?

Breastfeeding can be affected by breast reduction. Often breastfeeding is possible, but the breast may not produce enough milk to sustain an infant and supplementing with formula is necessary.

What are the possible complications of breast reduction?

Complications include infection, hematoma, bruising, pain, changes in nipple sensation, delayed wound healing, asymmetry of nipples or breast size, thick scars, and fat necrosis. The majority of these complications are rare. Exceptionally rarely, there may be necrosis of the nipples or areolas.

Breast Lift

Mastopexy (or breast lift) at Phi Plastic Surgery is a surgical procedure to tighten the skin and reposition the breast areola and nipple to their original position. It is performed under general anesthesia.

Breast position and shape is affected by aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding and weight loss. As such, your breasts may gradually descend (also referred to as breast ptosis) with time. A breast lift may be performed to reposition breast tissue and to correct ptosis. The nipple is repositioned on the chest, which can help restore a more youthful appearance of the breast.

This is a purely aesthetic procedure and, therefore, not covered by the RAMQ. This can be combined with other breast procedures, such as breast augmentation via implants or lipofilling.

Patients who are good candidates for this procedure:

  • Healthy weight
  • No significant medical problems
  • Non-smokers
  • Not on blood thinners
  • Droopy breasts
  • Are happy with the size of their breasts

Patients who are poor candidates for this procedure:

  • Obesity
  • Smoking
  • Significant medical problems
  • Taking blood thinners
  • Droopy and heavy breasts
  • Want to significantly change the size of their breasts (to increase your breast size, see lift-augmentation, for decreasing your breast size, see breast reduction)

Are you a good candidate?

Our Self-Evaluation Quiz can help you decide if a breast lift is the proper procedure for you.

Techniques for Breast Lift

The breast lift scar depends on how much skin needs to be removed. This can be limited to around the areola via a lollipop incision or by using an anchor incision (left to right). During your consultation, Dr. Gdalevitch will determine which technique will give you the best results. In some cases, a combination of a lift and augmentation can be performed to both enhance breast volume, as well as reshape and reposition the breasts.

  1. Lollipop incision – Incisions are made around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease. This technique is best suited for women with moderate breast sag.
  2. Anchor incision – An incision is made around the areola with incisions leading vertically down to the breast crease and horizontally along the breast crease fold. This technique is ideal for women who experience moderate to severe forms of breast ptosis (sagging).

  • Aspirin, drugs containing aspirin or any anticoagulants such as Arixtra pf, clopidogrel, Plavix, coumadin, dalteparin, edoxaban, eliquis, apixaban, enoxaparin, Fragmin pfsyringe, lepirudin, Pradaxa, dabigatran etexilate, Xarelto, rivaroxaban.
  • A pre-operative visit (if necessary) approximately two weeks before your surgery will be scheduled to review your goals and provide you with additional information regarding your surgery.

SEVEN DAYS before your surgery

  • Stop taking any supplements or medications from the list below. These products can increase the risk of bleeding and other complications. Stop consuming any non-prescribed supplements, including: Omega 3-6, nutricap, echinacea, glucosamine, fat burners, St. John’s wort.
  • Confirm your surgical support plan: This includes your transportation and post-surgical care, including an adult family member or a friend on-call for your support 24 hours after your surgery.
  • Purchase any prescription provided by Dr. Gdalevitch (If applicable) and revise your pre-surgical instructions.

The day BEFORE your surgery

Prepare a bag. It should include the following:

  • All necessary papers
  • Your identification (RAMQ card)
  • Prescription Drugs
  • Glasses if necessary
  • Confirm who will assist you for the first 24 hours after surgery.
  • Take a shower. Use a non-perfumed soap. Wash your hair. Do not put cream or lotions. Do not put deodorants, hair products, perfumes, or makeup on.
  • Remove any nail varnish (even if transparent) from your hands and feet, including shellac, resin, gel or acrylic. All this reduces the risk of post-surgical infections, and nails are monitored for blood circulation.
  • Do not eat or drink dark liquids for 8 hours before your surgery. Do not drink any light liquids 6 hours before your surgery. Anything you eat can cause the cancellation of your surgery and increase the risks associated with surgery and anesthesia. This includes sweets, mints, chewing gum, tea or coffee. You can take a minimal amount of water after brushing your teeth or taking medication.
  • Relax. Enjoy a good night's sleep and avoid stress.

YOUR SURGERY DAY

  • Do not drink or eat on the day of your surgery.
  • Do not train before surgery.
  • Please bring your medications which have been prescribed to you in a bag as above.
  • Please bring your compression socks if they have been prescribed to you.
  • Do not wear any makeup, jewellery, contact lenses, hairpin or piercings: during surgery, an electric cautery is used, and any piercing or jewellery can cause burns.
  • Wear light and comfortable clothing. Wear a top that opens forward. Do not wear a sweater, turtleneck or tight clothing. You can wear a skirt, but pants and a jogging jacket are ideal. Flat shoes that are easy to put on and remove (no heels) should be worn. A lip balm is recommended.

Your results

Recovery from a breast lift generally consists of taking pain medication for 48 hours after surgery. Your breasts will not be fully healed for 4-8 weeks after surgery, during which time you will need to avoid strenuous activity like exercise.

A breast lift will help you obtain a more youthful breast shape and will accomplish the following:

  • Reduce excess skin and create a firmer look and feel
  • Position the breasts higher on the chest
  • Raise the nipple to a higher position
  • Increase self-confidence that comes with a restored breast shape and position

The result is a rejuvenated, firmer breast that is aesthetically pleasing.

View most frequently asked questions

Am I a good candidate for a breast lift?

If you like your breasts' volume but find that your breasts and nipples are sagging, you are the perfect candidate for a breast lift.

How do I know if I need a breast lift or an augmentation?

The best way to answer this question is to see if you like the size of your breasts in a bra (without padding). If the answer is yes, then a breast lift will be enough to reshape and rejuvenate your breasts. If you want to have more volume and you find that your breasts are too small or deflated, you are a good candidate for breast augmentation. If your breasts and nipples sag and you find them too small, you may need a combination of a breast lift and breast augmentation.

What do breast lift scars look like?

The scars depend on how much skin needs to be removed in order to lift the breasts. For some women, a scar around the areola with vertical extension (lollipop) is enough, while women with lots of skin excess need the boat anchor incision. The scars do fade over two years.

Am I going to lose sensation in my nipples?

Nipple sensation is preserved but can be increased or decreased in the first weeks after the operation.

AccuTite

AccuTite is a minimally invasive procedure to treat tiny and delicate areas such as the eyelids, the jowls as well as the nasolabial folds. It is a radio frequency technology that allows the fat to melt while also tightening the skin. This technology will make a subtle yet noticeable change in the elasticity of the skin improve the areas treated. AccuTite is a good treatment alternative to traditional face-tightening surgery, such as blepharoplasty for patients who want to avoid surgery.

How it works

AccuTite is done under local anesthesia which allows you to return to normal activities quickly after the treatment. During your procedure, radiofrequency energy produces heat on the undersurface of the skin which causes contraction of the existing collagen fibers and stimulates new collagen production over time. The device has built-in monitoring and shut-off mechanisms that prevent overheating that could damage surrounding tissue or cause burns. The small applicator is designed to achieve precise sculpting in small areas of the face that are typically more challenging. Most patients report feeling mild pressure or nothing at all as the tiny device glides under the skin.

At Phi Plastic Surgery Clinic, we offer effective non-invasive solutions for all your beauty needs.

Your results

You will be swollen after the procedure. The swelling is mild to moderate and can last for 1-2 weeks. As you heal, your body will continue to produce new collagen in the area. That means that your results will continue to improve over the coming weeks. Most patients will see their best results become noticeable after six weeks and up to twelve months. The tightening and regenerating effects of AccuTite give a rejuvenated and youthful appearance to the treated areas. You may benefit from multiple treatment sessions depending on your skin and goals.

    Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are designed to illuminate your skin tone, improve skin elasticity, and brighten your complexion. They are a fantastic way to give your skin a fresh and vibrant glow. Perfect for dull skin, fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation, there are many ways our patients can dive into the next level of their skin therapy. It resurfaces the skin by lifting away stubborn dead skin cells and softening the look of aging and scarring.

    How it works

Chemical peels are applied topically and are absorbed by the skin to promote regeneration. Initially, the skin is cleansed with a gel facewash to remove the skin’s natural oils and any superficial dirt or makeup. The chemical solution is then applied on the skin and left on for 5 minutes to be absorbed. A gentle stinging sensation or heat may be experienced. Depending on your skin’s initial reaction, we can apply up to 4 layers of chemical product on the face and up to 2 layers on the neck and décolleté. A brightening accelerator and retinol are then applied for additional brightening, tightening and exfoliation. The treatment ends with the application of a recovery moisturizer and a 40 SPF sunscreen to protect the skin from the UV rays of the sun. The chemical peel is self-neutralizing and will stay active up to 8 hours after the treatment.

    Conditions

    • Dull complexion
    • Uneven skin tone
    • Sun damage
    • Large pores
    • Mild scarring
    • Fine wrinkles
    • Hyperpigmentation

While there is minimal downtime, you may experience redness for up to 4 days after your chemical peel. A feeling of tightness and flaking in certain regions of the face is quite normal. After approximately 10 to 14 days, your results show a healthy new glow with fresh, radiant skin. It is important to avoid all sun exposure for at least 2 weeks after the treatment and to always apply minimum 40 SPF sunblock on treated area.

      Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are used to help improve your overall facial appearance. The most commonly used fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring molecule found in our skin. Aging causes the skin to lose its fullness (called deflation) which then allows the skin to loosen and fall (called descent). Dermal fillers counteract these effects of aging by replacing lost collagen and fatty tissue, all while enhancing a youthful, plump facial shape. Men and women alike can use dermal fillers to create a more youthful facial and lip contour. They can also be used to hydrate and plump the skin for immediately satisfying results.

      How it works

A variety of different products can be used, including even your own fat (fat grafting). Hyaluronic acid products are injected just below the skin to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles around the nose and mouth as well as between the eyebrows. A strategic injection is also used to increase the volume of the temples, cheeks, and lips to achieve a more youthful appearance. When necessary, a topical numbing cream is used before injection.

At Phi Plastic Surgery Clinic, we offer effective non-invasive solutions for all your beauty needs.

The effects of dermal fillers are immediate and can last from 6-9 months, depending on the area and type of product used. You can return to work the very same day, as there is no downtime. Double Chin Treatment

Are you concerned about excess fat under the chin? Belkyra® is a revolutionary non-surgical treatment for reducing double-chin appearance without liposuction or surgery. Fullness under the chin is a common concern for both men and women. Belkyra® can help shape and define the double chin and neck areas.

        How it works

Prior to Belkyra® treatment, patients receive a local anesthetic to numb the affected area. Belkyra is then injected in an evenly distributed manner under the chin using a patterned grid.

The solution reduces fat in the submental area using a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid. This acid breaks down fat and destroys fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. After treatment, ice packs can be applied to help soothe the area. If more than one treatment is needed, they can be performed in 4-8 week intervals.

Patients usually wait for 24-48 hrs before returning to work. Results are typically seen four to six weeks following your treatment. Though your treatment will be noticeable after just one session, patients often require 3-5 treatments to achieve the full effect. Gradually, as the body eliminates submental fullness and fat, the double chin begins to appear much smaller and the jawline more defined.

          Electrolysis

Electrolysis for hair removal is one of the safest, most effective hair removal methods available. With a proven track record of consistent and permanent results, both men and women use this treatment to remove unwanted or embarrassing hair. Facial hair is one of the most common areas that we perform electrolysis on, including complex areas such as the chin and upper lip. Electrolysis is safe to be performed on areas that have already undergone hair removal treatments, making it a prevalent treatment for patients who have lingering thin pale hair after laser or IPL treatments. It can also be a good option for patients experiencing hair growth due to hormonal changes and imbalances. With smooth and desirable results, you can feel confident knowing there’s a solution for your unwanted hair.

          How it works

Electrolysis hair removal uses a filament that is inserted in the hair follicle to send a small electrical current directly to the hair’s root. It works wonders for thick, grey, blonde, and light hairs or hairs that have been unresponsive to laser and IPL treatments. Completion time varies among patients depending on the thickness of hair and hair removal methods used in the past. Permanency is achieved through a series of regular sessions, as consistent and timely treatments are important to target hair during different cycles of its growth.

Thinning and hair reduction can be seen after just one session of electrolysis. Hair grows in cycles, which are slightly different depending on the area of the body. Electrolysis will take at least three months to treat each hair in one cycle once. It can, therefore, take a year or more to obtain total clearance of the hair. Once treatment is complete, patients have a smooth skin appearance with no hair growth. This can provide a new sense of confidence and comfort.

            FaceTite

FaceTite is a minimally invasive procedure to treat the lower face and neck. It is a radio frequency technology that allows the fat to melt and the skin to tighten simultaneously. FaceTite is always combined with some liposuction of the treated areas and offers subtle but long-lasting facial rejuvenation and improvement in skin laxity.

            How it works

FaceTite is done under local anesthesia so you can return to normal activities quickly after the treatment. It uses Radio-Frequency Assisted Lipolysis (RFAL) to break down excess fat and tighten the skin. After liposuction of the area is completed, a thin cannula is inserted just beneath the skin and is combined with an external electrode. Together these two pieces of the device move back and forth along the skin and heat the underside of the skin, which triggers collagen tightening and new collagen production. This causes the connective tissues of the skin to contract and tighten over the following weeks.

              Facials

Facial treatments are available to patients with all skin types and can be beneficial for a variety of skin conditions. Facials are generally recommended to maintain healthy, exfoliated and hydrated skin.

              How it works

During your treatment, your aesthetician will first cleanse your face and remove all superficial dirt and oils. Depending on your skin type, your aesthetician will choose the appropriate method of exfoliation. A customized blend of facial products will be applied to brighten, soothe and hydrate your skin.

              CONDITIONS

                InstaLift®

InstaLift® is a good non-surgical treatment for patients who are not ready for a surgical facelift. InstaLift® is a thread lifting technique that uses dissolvable threads and cones made up of a synthetic material called polylactic acid.

                How it works

Before inserting your threads, a local anesthetic is injected at the entry points to ensure your comfort during the treatment. Specially formulated dissolvable sutures with single-direction cones are then threaded through the deeper layer of the skin of the face. These threads are then pulled to lift the face. The cones secure the deep tissues until collagen production causes scarring of the tissue to maintain the lifted result. The entire procedure takes about 25 minutes and requires no incisions.

                  Skin Tightening with JPlasma Renuvion

If you are experiencing sagging, loose skin on your neck or body but are not ready for invasive surgery, Dr. Gdalevitch offers this minimally invasive skin tightening treatment in her plastic surgery practice. This minimally invasive skin tightening treatment can be used on the neck and body to tighten the skin without the downtime required for more invasive surgical procedures.

                  How it works

After local anesthesia is administered, small incisions are created near the treatment area. Liposuction is always used to dissect the tissues and unload the area from fat. The device’s probe is inserted after the liposuction is complete and uses radiofrequency (RF) technology, paired with cold helium plasma, to tighten the skin and trigger natural cell regeneration.

Liposuction is often combined with J-plasma. Dr. Perry Gdalevitch’s signature awake liposuction represents the latest advancement in suction-assisted fat removal. Unlike traditional liposuction, Dr. Gdalevitch removes excess fat under local anesthetic. You will be awake and comfortable as your body is sculpted. Since general anesthesia is unnecessary, you can expect to recover from the surgery more quickly.

                    Skin resurfacing with J-Plasma

Age, sun damage, and lifestyle choices all affect the quality and presentation of your skin. Skin begins to sag, loosen, and stretch, leaving you with an aged, “dull” appearance instead of a youthful glow. J-Plasma technology offers quick results with a fraction of the recovery versus comparable surgical procedures. It can be used for skin tightening and non-fractional ablative skin rejuvenation, leaving patients with a youthful, tight, and firm appearance.

                    How it works

This minimally invasive outpatient procedure utilizes a wand that spreads cold plasma energy over the skin. To create this effect, radiofrequency energy is added to gas to create a plasma. Controlled temperature mechanisms in the device reduce the risk of damage to the skin. As the plasma touches the skin, it removes the upper layers, leaving the deeper layers untouched.

                      Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a special applicator with a grainy surface to gently sand away the first layer of dead cells on the skin. By buffing away the uppermost layer, we break down the barrier that often prevents your current skincare products from adequately absorbing into the lower dermis. This gentle, soothing treatment will leave your skin feeling soft with a brighter and more even complexion.

                      How it works

Microdermabrasion is a procedure that uses a light abrasive instrument that gently suctions to help exfoliate and remove all the dead skin cells on the uppermost layer of the skin. Removing the superficial top layer encourages the body to respond by regenerating new, healthy skin cells. After your treatment, a hydrating mask is applied for 10 minutes followed by a hydrating moisturizer and sunblock.

                      Microdermabrasion regular

                      130$

                      Microdermabrasion with extraction

                      150$

                        Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally invasive, non-surgical procedure for facial rejuvenation that involves using a micro-needling device to create small, controlled perforations. This helps restore the skin’s radiance and firmness while targeting some of your most unwanted aging concerns. At Phi Plastic Surgery, microneedling can be combined with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma), which is also known as the Vampire Facial. This incredible combination can reduce acne scars and high levels of sun damage among many other vital benefits.

                        How it works

Numbing cream is first applied to ensure a comfortable painless treatment. Once the skin is fully numb, serum is applied to allow the treatment device to slide over the skin. The device’s fine needles will create micro-wounds all over the treatment area. The micro-wounds trigger a controlled inflammatory response, stimulates the natural collagen of the skin and encourages the skin to repair itself from the inside out.

                        Your results

Patients may leave the clinic red with the sensation of having a large sun burn. You will start to see a smoother, firmer, and more radiant skin appearance after 2 weeks. A feeling of tightness and flaking in certain regions of the face is quite normal. The number of treatments needed varies from each individual and the results last for as long as the skin is maintained with regular skin care treatments and a consistent skin care routine at home. It is important to avoid all sun exposure for at least 2 weeks after the treatment and to always apply minimum 40 SPF sunblock on treated areas.

                          Morpheus8

Morpheus 8 uses radiofrequency technology to rejuvenate and tighten the skin. It helps to improve the skin’s texture, soften fine wrinkles, tighten skin laxity, and reduce stretch marks. It may be performed on many parts of the body, including the face. By targeting the deeper layers of the skin, face and body tissues can be remodelled to reveal a more rejuvenated, youthful appearance. At Phi Plastic Surgery, we can optimize your Morpheus 8 results with PRP (platelet-rich plasma) for even more rejuvenating benefits.

                          How it works

Morpheus 8 is a non-surgical treatment performed in the office. Before the procedure we apply a topical numbing cream to the treatment area. Like microneedling, the Morpheus8 has several tiny needles (24 to be exact) that are inserted into the skin, stimulating new collagen. This device uses needles to penetrate the skin more deeply and radio frequency energy to heat and stimulate the collagen in the skin. The trauma from the needles and the heat cause the underlying tissues to contract, remodel and produce more collagen which ultimately results in skin tightening.

Morpheus 8 requires minimal downtime, ranging between 2 to 5 days. Immediately after, you will see some redness that will disappear almost entirely by the next day. Results appear approximately three weeks to six weeks following the procedure. However, three treatments are needed to get an optimal result at 6-8 week intervals. Patients will notice that their skin looks rejuvenated and tighter. When used on the body, patients also see improvements in the texture and colour of scarring and stretch marks.

                            Neuromodulator Injections

Botulinum Toxin is a product that gets its name from the bacteria from which it is derived, called botulism. The toxin from this bacteria is injected in minute quantities into selected facial muscles in order to achieve paralysis and eliminate dynamic facial wrinkles (wrinkles caused by movements of the face). It can also be used to lift the lateral eyebrow as well as decrease bands in the neck.

Botulinum Toxin is used for various medical problems, including spasms of the face and neck, migraine headaches, overactive bladder, lazy eye, excessive sweating, and many more. It has been extensively studied and is safe when performed by a trained and experienced medical professional.

                            How it works

Botulinum Toxin blocks the receptors on muscles, which stops the muscles from contracting. Botulinum toxin treatment can be performed in the office and is a quick procedure where your injector will assess your face and discuss the areas of concern.

                            Your results

Botulinum Toxin takes effect 2-5 days after it is injected, and the effects typically last between 3.5 to 4 months. The results are natural, providing patients with a smoothing of facial wrinkles. Patients will often notice a more rested appearance and refreshed look.

PRP – Facial and Hair Rejuvenation

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) – uses your own cells and your body’s natural growth factors to revitalize your skin, promote natural collagen formation, and rejuvenate your youthful appearance. When used on the face, many patients know this treatment by the name“Vampire facial.”PRP can also be used to regenerate hair follicles and promote the growth of thicker, healthier hair.

                              How it works

Your blood will be drawn at the beginning of your treatment. It is then spun in a centrifuge to separate it into the red blood cells and the plasma platelets. The rich platelets are then extracted and injected into your skin. The injection can be done manually or by using a treatment device. PRP can also be used in combination with some of our other treatments, such as Morpheus 8 and Microneedling. The growth factors found in the plasma help heal and rejuvenate the cellular structures in the skin.

After treatment, only minor swelling and slight redness will occur. Most patients return to work the next day. Though some results will be seen within just a few days, your best results will be seen over the course of the next few weeks, as the platelets will stimulate more collagen growth and an improvement in skin texture and tone. We often recommend three treatments, 4-6 weeks apart, followed by booster treatments every 6-12 months.

                                Breast Lipofilling

Breast fat grafting (lipofilling) removes fat from one area of your body and then reinjects it into your breasts. This surgery is an excellent alternative for patients who do not want to use breast implants to increase the size or enhance the shape of their breasts.

Whether you have lost volume in the breasts after having children, are seeing deflation due to aging, or never loved your breast size, breast fat grafting can offer you a very natural breast enhancement. Additionally, it can help shape and contour other areas of the body, such as the abdomen, back, flanks, and thighs, improving body proportions and defining your curves.

Patients who are good candidates for this procedure:

                                • Looking for a natural augmentation
                                • Have areas of excess fat on their body
                                • No significant medical problems
                                • Non-smokers
                                • Want to increase the size of their breasts by ~ 1 cup
                                • Want to avoid scars on their breast
                                • Want to avoid an implant in their body

Patients who are poor candidates for this procedure:

                                • Very thin patients
                                • Smokers
                                • Significant medical problems
                                • Want to significantly increase their breast size (> than 1 cup size)

                                Are you a good candidate?

                                Techniques for Breast Fat Grafting

During your breast fat grafting procedure, Dr. Gdalevitch will perform liposuction to harvest fat from other areas of your body while focusing on contouring and defining the body’s silhouette. Once the fat is collected, it is purified and prepared into a type of “purée” that contains concentrated fat and stem cells.

Dr. Gdalevitch then strategically injects the fat into the breasts, giving the cells a maximum chance of survival. Not all fat cells will survive the transfer process, which is always considered when injecting. Depending on your breast goals, fat can be injected to either enhance your cleavage, create more upper fullness, correct asymmetries, or define a natural, round breast shape.

At Phi Plastic Surgery, we believe that a beautiful body can take many shapes and sizes. The Phi philosophy centers on respecting your body's proportions and helping you let your inner beauty shine.

                                • Avoid staying in bed all day, and rest in a semi-sitting position.
                                • Avoid strenuous activities with your arms.

                                Healing and follow up

                                • Your breasts will not be fully healed for 4-8 weeks.
                                • Exercise is not permitted until 3 months after surgery to prevent loss of the fat graft.
                                • You should rest for at least one week after surgery and gradually regain daily activities, except for strenuous upper body activities or exercise.

You will have a follow-up appointment 1-2 weeks after surgery, then at one month and three months.

                                Your results

Recovery from fat grafting consists of two days of taking pain medication, two weeks for the skin to heal, and three months for the fat to settle. Time off work is approximately two weeks.

Fat grafting to the breasts will help you obtain a slightly larger, more attractive breast and will accomplish the following:

                                • Remove excess fat from other areas of the body, such as the abdomen, flanks, back, and thighs
                                • Create a more defined body contour and silhouette
                                • Slightly fuller, rounder breasts
                                • Increase self-confidence that comes with a natural-looking breast augmentation

The result creates improved body proportions, an overall contoured silhouette and an enhanced breast size and shape.

What is breast augmentation using fat?

This newer technique can extract excess fat using liposuction and re-inject it into the breasts to increase the volume/size.

Am I a good candidate for breast augmentation using fat?

If you have excess fat on other parts of your body (abdomen, thighs, flanks) and want a small breast augmentation with a natural appearance, you are a good candidate for breast lipofilling.

How can I choose between breast augmentation using fat (lipofilling) and breast implants?

During your consultation with Dr. Perry Gdalevitch, she will help you decide on the surgery that best suits your needs and goals. In general, if you want an increase of more than 1- 2 cup sizes, you will be guided toward an implant. However, if you have fat that you want to get rid of in sufficient quantities and have deflated breasts but do not like the idea of an implant, you will be guided toward breast augmentation using fat.

How big of an augmentation can I expect if I use my fat?

The average increase is 1 cup size.

How much does the procedure cost?

                                Implant Revision

Breast implant revision surgery is a procedure to remove and/or replace previous breast implants. Patients may feel their breasts have changed over time due to aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding or weight loss. Revision implant surgery can restore an esthetically pleasing shape and size to your breasts.

There are different options available for revision surgery, including exchanging the implants, lifting the breasts or removing the implants. At Phi Plastic Surgery, Dr. Gdalevitch will listen to your concerns, discuss your options, and create a surgical plan that is right for you.

Patients who are good candidates for this procedure:

                                • Are at a stable and healthy weight
                                • Have no significant medical problems
                                • Non-smokers
                                • Not on blood thinners
                                • Are not happy with the way their current implants look or feel
                                • Desire implant correction or complete removal

Patients who are poor candidates for this procedure:

                                • Obese (want or need to lose weight)
                                • Smoker
                                • Have serious medical problems

                                Techniques for Implant Revision

Implant removal is often performed using an incision along the inframammary fold (breast crease). From there, several techniques and additional procedures can be used to create the desired results.

Breast implant revision usually involves removing the old breast implants as well as the scar tissue or capsule around the implants (capsulectomy). This may correct complications such as capsular contracture and implant rupture. The breast implant pocket may be reshaped to reposition the new implant on the chest. The size of the implant can also be changed to suit your aesthetic goals.

If you are not looking to replace your old implants with new ones, other techniques can be performed in addition to removing your implants. Many patients opt for breast fat grafting or a breast lift to enhance the size and shape of their breasts after implant removal.

                                The day BEFORE your surgery

Prepare a bag. It should include the following:

                                • All necessary papers
                                • Your identification (RAMQ card)
                                • Prescription Drugs

Recovery from implant revision surgery consists of two days of pain medication, two weeks for the skin to heal, two months for the breasts to settle and two years for the scars to fade. Time off work is approximately 2-3 weeks. Recovery may look different for every patient.

Implant revision will help you restore the look of your previous breast augmentation and can also accomplish the following:

                                • Complete removal or replacement of current implants
                                • Enhance shape and improve breast contour
                                • Correct implant rupture or capsular contraction
                                • Increase self-confidence that comes with achieving your desired breast appearance

The result is a more comfortable and esthetically pleasing breast.

When should I remove or replace my breast implants?

Usually, implants last 10 + years. It is common after this mark to see changes in your body and the appearance of the implants. Implants should be removed if you no longer like the look or feel or are experiencing pain and discomfort, implant rupture, or capsular contracture.

What scars will I have after implant revision?

Most often, an inframammary incision is used to remove the implant. An additional incision may be used if you receive a breast lift or fat grafting during your revision. These incisions will be discussed with Dr. Gdalevitch before your surgery.

                                What is a capsulectomy?

A capsulectomy is an operation to remove the scar tissue around your implant.

What are my surgical revision options?

Your surgical options will depend on your desired aesthetic result. From there, different techniques can be used to create your results. These may include new implant placement, breast lift and/or fat grafting to the breasts.

How long will it take to recover?

If you are considering improving the results of an earlier breast augmentation with a breast revision, you’ll need to account for your recovery time as part of the process. Every patient experiences different recovery times, but most women return to work after one to two weeks.

How much does the procedure cost?

                                Inverted Nipples

Inverted nipple correction creates a normal projection and an esthetically pleasing appearance of your nipples. Inverted nipples can occur when the ducts of the nipple are tight, pulling the projection inward into the areola. It is common for patients to be born with inverted nipples. This condition may cause cosmetic concerns for patients and interfere with breastfeeding.

Inverted nipple correction is a relatively quick procedure that can restore the projection of the nipple and increase the aesthetic appearance.

Patients who are good candidates for this procedure:

                                • Are at a stable and healthy weight
                                • Have no significant medical problems
                                • Non-smokers

                                • Have inverted nipples

                                Techniques for Inverted Nipple Correction

Inverted nipple correction can be performed under local anesthesia. The procedure is relatively simple and provides patients with very inconspicuous scars that are hidden in the areola. These scars fade over time and are generally not noticeable.

Dr. Gdalevitch will make small incisions during your surgery to release the nipple from the tight ducts beneath the skin. The nipple will then be pulled forward, and sutures will be placed around the edges of the nipple to close the incisions.

                                View most frequently asked questions

                                What are inverted nipples?

Inverted nipples occur when the nipples pull in instead of protruding out due to constricted tissue within the breast.

What does the nipple inversion repair surgery involve?

Nipple inversion corrections are typically performed as an outpatient procedure. The operation lasts about one hour, depending on the degree of inversion and type of correction desired. Dr. Gdalevitch makes small incisions during surgery to release the tight milk ducts and pull the nipple forward.

                                How long is recovery?

After the procedure, over-the-counter pain medication is usually sufficient for a comfortable healing experience. Healing takes about one week, and strenuous exercise should be avoided for about two weeks.

Does inverted nipple surgery affect sensitivity?

Though there is always a risk of losing nipple sensation with any surgery involving the nipple, Dr. Gdalevitch is an experienced surgeon and uses techniques that will preserve nipple sensation.

                                Will my nipples look natural?

Yes. Nipple inversion correction gives a very natural and beautiful-looking result. Scarring remains minimal as it is hidden along the outer edges of the nipple and in the areola.

How much does the procedure cost?

                                Nipple inversion (both)

                                starting at $2,700

                                Tuberous Breast Correction

Breast shape, size and symmetry play an important role in a woman’s sense of femininity, and confidence. Tuberous breasts are a common developmental condition that can have a variety of presentations. Tuberous breast deformities vary widely and often include asymmetry as well as herniation of the areola.

This breast shape becomes evident during the early phases of puberty and breast development. Tuberous breasts can profoundly influence the psychosocial well-being and sexuality of young women.

Patients who are good candidates for this procedure:

                                • Small breast size

Patients who are poor candidates for this procedure:

                                • Obese (want or need to lose weight)
                                • Smoker
                                • Have serious medical problems

                                Techniques for Tuberous Breast Correction

Dr. Gdalevitch combines her proficiency in both aesthetic and reconstructive surgery to address shape and symmetry in tuberous breast correction. In some cases, surgery can be performed on the affected breast alone. In many cases, slightly different procedures are required for each breast to achieve a symmetric result. Volume correction can be addressed with a breast implant or lipofillling, while changes in shape can be accomplished using breast lift techniques. Some patients combine these two procedures during a single surgery, but in other cases, a staged approach performed over two surgeries is recommended to achieve the best possible results.

                                • Do not wear any makeup, jewellery, contact lenses, hairpin or piercings: during surgery, an electric cautery is used, and any piercing or jewellery can cause burns.

You can wear a skirt, but pants and a jogging jacket are ideal. Flat shoes that are easy to put on and remove (no heels) should be worn. A lip balm is recommended.

                                Your results

Significant improvements in both size and shape can be accomplished through the placement of breast implants. After breast implant surgery, your breasts will appear more “shapely” and “full.” The result is an improvement in a woman’s self-esteem and a more positive self-image.

                                Lip Lift

A lip lift procedure is a small intervention where an area of skin is removed at the base of the nose to shorten the distance from the nasal base to the upper lip. As we age, the length of the distance from the bottom of the nose to the upper lip increases, which makes the lip look more petite and less youthful.

With a lip lift procedure, we can enhance this area to show more of the upper lip, which makes the upper lip look fuller.

                                Technique for Lip Lift

This procedure is performed in the office under local anesthesia. To begin the procedure, Dr. Gdalevitch will place an incision in the natural skin crease below the nose. This incision runs along the nasal base in the shape of a bullhorn. Through this incision, the lip tissues are lifted, and excess skin is trimmed, which reveals more of the pigmented part of your upper lip. Dr. Gdalevitch will align the bottom of the nose with the top of the lip and place sutures to close the incision.
